TRITECH SCIENCE EXPOSITION NATIONAL ROUND

2024 Tritech Science Exposition National Round participants 2025 with Mrs Young and Mr Chihona

The Tritech Science Exposition National Round was held at Merensky High School, Tzaneen on the 11th and 12th of October 2024. The main objective was to showcase innovative science projects by pupils from different parts of South Africa. The University of the Free State and other stakeholders graced the occasion with funding, academic support and motivational speeches, which ignited a passion for science. The exposition attracted 61 young scientists, who presented innovative solutions to real-world problems. The projects were well-thought-out ideas with an abundance of science talent on display. However, Aman stole the show with his outstanding exhibit, which further attracted the attention of top judges from the University of the Free State.

All our pupils were awarded certificates. It was a busy and memorable weekend to remember, which included chemistry experiments and fun events.

The prizes and awards are as follows:

The Red and Yellow teams were awarded the best spirit awards. Vivek and Lulama belonged to these teams respectively. Lulama was the yellow team leader. Noluthando’s team was awarded third position for the Friday evening events which were chemistry experiments and included titration.

Aman further won a prize of R5000 for developing the best innovative idea which can reduce the cost of launching a rocket as well as reducing carbon emissions when the rocket is launched. This idea is very practical and is a step towards environmental conservation. Aman’s project can be of value to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Well done, Tritech team. The school is proud of you, as you made the Kingfisher flag fly so high. Thank you to parents, headmistress, SMT and teachers for the support, you are our pillars of strength.  All these results are because of collaboration and great teamwork.
